A CELEBRATION OF DIVERSE CREATIVITY
The One Club champions the global creative community through the calendar year, but its efforts culminated with the celebration of Creative Week, which takes place every May in New York City.
By day, Creative Week featured a handful of sessions, workshops, and reviews, designed to foster discussion, reflection, and connection in the advertising and design industries. By night, Creative Week rolled out the red carpet as it recognized the very best work from the past year by way of three internationally acclaimed award shows: the lauding of “big ideas” at The One Show 2024; the celebration of design and craftsmanship at the ADC 103rd Annual Awards; a showcase of typographic perfection at the Type Directors Club’s 70 Annual Competition Exhibition; and the salute to the next generation of talent at the Young Ones Student Awards.

Annual Competition Exhibition
The Type Directors Club celebrated a major milestone by unveiling the winners of its 70th annual competition in breathtaking fashion. A reception at Location 05 welcomed members and guests to experience the very best in type and lettering from the past year.
From bold experiments in lettering to more subtle applications of precise type design, the 70th annual winners represented the full spectrum of creativity and craftsmanship in the field. The jurors' daunting task of choosing bests from such an incredible pool of talent was evident.
The 70th annual winners exhibition will extend its reach far beyond New York, travelling to major cities around the world over the next year. This global tour will allow type enthusiasts and designers from all corners to experience and draw inspiration from the TDC's curation of the latest typographic excellence.
For the winners celebrating amongst friends and colleagues, the evening marked the culmination of countless hours of passion and hard work. Their pieces will forever be enshrined as shining examples of typographic excellence. Here's to 70 more years!
TDC LETTERING WALK
New York is one of the most fascinating cities in the world, and a casual stroll through any of its famous locales is sure to be a typographic journey, by way of its architecture and signage.
Designer, calligrapher, and historian Paul Shaw returned to lead us on one of his renowned TDC Lettering Walks. This year, we headed down the spine of Manhattan, along Broadway from City Hall all the way to the Battery! Along the way we checked out sites such as the Sun Building, St. Paul's Chapel, Trinity Church, the New York Stock Exchange, the American Stock Exchange, the Brooklyn/Battery Tunnel, the Cunard Building, and the Municipal Ferry Terminal. We even hopped aboard the Staten Island Ferry for lunch in the neighborhood of St. George, where a breathtaking view of Manhattan was also on the menu.
EXECUTIVE CREATIVE SUMMIT
Refreshing perspectives on creative leadership
The Executive Creative Summit made a triumphant return to New York City after a five-year hiatus, gathering decision-makers from the advertising and creative industries. The landscape has shifted dramatically with the rise of work-from-home culture, office downsizing, increasing AI adoption, a heightened focus on diversity, and the lingering effects of the global pandemic.
Amidst this era of unprecedented change and challenges, the summit provided a vital platform for support and inspiration. Creating exceptional work is an endeavor in itself, but agency founders, partners, and C-suite executives face added complexities of keeping clients satisfied, staff motivated, business growing, and operations running smoothly - a often isolating responsibility.
By convening industry leaders, the Executive Creative Summit fostered an environment of camaraderie, shared wisdom, and empowerment. As the creative world navigates uncharted territory, the summit emerged as a beacon, guiding leaders through turbulent times with renewed vigor, vision, and a profound sense of community.

WE'RE ALL MAD HERE
Chris Sojka
Co-Founder & CCO Madwell
The "mad" in "Madwell" is no accident. It's a clarion call to outsiders, misfits, and wild rotini shaped souls tired of living in a square peg world. We've always believed in bringing your whole self to work and using your whole brain, whatever that looks like. A few years ago this approach to working became known as accepting "neurodiversity," an understanding that our gray matter, our internal worlds, differ just as much as our physical bodies or external worlds. The incredible thing is that all those little differences add up to reams of creativity and heaps of business potential. If you know how to navigate them.
